JEANNE MCCANN

President

Jeanne has a unique mix of experience in traditional communications,  journalism and public affairs, along with expertise in digital and social media.

She works with numerous nonprofit organizations and foundations on digital and media outreach campaigns  designed to galvanize action, change public opinion and move the needle on pressing social issues. (View selected client list here.)


Previously vice president of digital strategies at The Hatcher Group, a communications and public affairs agency specializing in nonprofits, Jeanne spent 10 years there building the agency's digital practice in social advertising, website development and design and social media strategy,


Prior to The Hatcher Group, Jeanne spent 13 years managing online strategy and operations for EdWeek.org, the digital presence for Education Week newspaper. While there, she oversaw the transition of its website from a weekly to a daily publication, launched sub-sites, oversaw the development of vertical e-newsletters, established blogs and social media as news delivery channels and helped implement online advertising.


Jeanne previously worked on large-scale public awareness campaigns focused on early intervention for infants and toddlers, organ donation, teenage pregnancy and substance abuse prevention.


Jeanne has a master’s in journalism and public affairs from American University, and a master’s in social work from Catholic University of America.


A Washington, D.C., refugee, she now practically lives on her deck, close to Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor.
